Pieve de’ Pitti Appunto IGT Toscana Merlot

The name Pieve de’ Pitti comes from the Florentine Pitti who owned the estate until the end of the XVII century and from the parish chapel of St. John of Pava, that was built on the ruins of an ancient Etruscan church. The Pieve de ‘Pitti is located on the southern edge of the municipality of Terricciola, in the heart of the Terre di Pisa at 140 meters above sea level. The soils, sands, clays and limestones, are rich of shells and fossils, but the character of the wines comes mainly from the sea breeze that blows all year round from South-West, over the Miemo and Castellina hills. Such puffs, dance through our grapes with a salt embrace, so intense and surprising. The grapes that are grown here represent the terroir and winemaker’s philosophy.

Appunto has a surprising taste of Merlot: open fruity nose, long and sapid fresh finish and a irresistible mouthfeel. It fully represent the marine soils where grapes ripe. You will be surprised by its varietal flavour. Grown on blue clay, it was the perfect soil for merlot. 100% Merlot vinifed and aged in cement to ensure the honesty of the fruit and the freshness of the drink, pleasing to all palates.
