Rubinelli Amarone displays fresh primary aromas of cranberry and raspberry, as well as the concentrated power of passito grapes. It has all the depth that you’d expect from a well-aged Amarone, with tertiary notes of dry fig, Amsterdam pipe tobacco, dark chocolate and old leather. This wine is made in Rubinelli’s typical style: fresh, elegant, and complex, rather than oaky and dense.

This Amarone is made from 40% Corvina, 40% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, 5% Molinara, and 5% Oseleta. The grapes are harvested by hand in September, when they still have a high level of acidity. After this, they are dried in fruttaio (drying lofts) for four months. In January, the dried grapes are softly crushed and fermented for three weeks. After this, the wine is pumped into large 3000-litre French oak barrels to mature over a long period of 36 months. Rubinelli uses large barrels instead of barriques because its style of winemaking is to preserve the natural aroma of the grape, and not overpower it with oak. Before this Amarone wine is released to the market, it ages in bottle for 12 more months. This helps to ensure the flavours are fully integrated and the wine has reached its full potential.

Rubinelli Amarone is medium garnet in colour. Straight out of the glass, it offers concentrated aroma of dried strawberry, supported by notes of espresso, dark chocolate, cinnamon, raspberry jam as well as balsamic vinegar and sour dark cherry. This Amarone is perfectly dry, with refined tannins, a high level of alcohol and a full body. Long elegant finish.
